I use Lorraine Massey's "Curly Girl" method to take care of my kinky-curly 4a hair and adapted her conditioner washes (or washing with conditioner in place of shampoo). The theory is that shampoo has too many drying surfactants. Conditioner, on the other hand is not so drying, and still has the ability to cleanse.)
Suave's Tropical Coconut conditioner is wonderful for many purposes. Add amla, maka, kalpi tone or other ayurvedic powders to Suave Tropical Moisture, and leave it on overnight for a really good deep conditioning.
This conditioner also helps to detangle my hair when I comb it under a stream of water during my showers. It smells sweet, like coconuts (which probably comes from the fragrance and coconut extract). The consistency of this conditioner is a medium-thick consistency. It leaves my hair soft, moisturized and with a slight sheen after use.
This conditioner is not "natural" but it has humectants like cetyl alcohol, glycerin and honey. It also contains silk proteins (to strengthen hair). Rosemary and nettle are included to promote scalp health and hair growth. Good conditioner for a low price.
Note, just because it works for my hair, it may not work for you. Please do a test to see if this one works for you.

I'm an African American woman with natural 3c hair with 4a in my crown area...this product is a little "too light". Although I do not like my hair to feel greasy or weighed down...this doesn't do enough for my curly hair...not a bad product if you have normal or oily hair...but if you have dry curly hair...forget about it....

I've tried a million and one conditioners and this one was the perfect one. It makes your hair very soft wet and dry and I also noticed that very little to no hair came out when I did the comb through and my hair is relaxed. I recommend this product for all hair types. I actually bought mine from a beauty supply store in my neighborhood, but it works great. It defines my natural 4a, coffee-stirrer sized curls, moisturizes, and stays for the whole day. It was recommended by the ladies at the forum in Naturallycurly.com. I used it with Fantasia IC gel and Long aid curl activator. Next day, all I do is reapply a little bit, and spray my homemade (jojoba oil, glycerin, and water) mixture all over my hair with a spray bottle.
Just make sure your hair likes Shea Butter, because for some people it doesn't work.

My hair was really long but it broke off. My hair does grow but i have a problem with breakage.It really strenghtened my hair. I love this stuff. I am now confident that this product will keep my hair from breaking so i can keep my long hair and stop having to grow it back all the time. I have ethnic hair so it works well for all hair types. I don't suffer from dry or frizzy hair, but I like to do intense conditioning treatments since I tend to dye and bleach my hair several times a year. I tried this on a whim, not having used many oil treatments in the past. Generally, I apply the product in the evening after a shower and sleep with it in with a towel around my head or at least laying on the pillow. I did this with this product since there are no harsh chemicals that would burn through if left in too long.
First off, you will smell like salad dressing with this in. No two ways about it, it's rosemary, it's oil, you will smell like salad. It's not a bad thing mind you, but if you're sensitive to the scent or don't want to smell too strongly for a day or two, it's not a product for you. I personally love the feel of an oil treatment and the rosemary is very pleasant, so this was a great product for me.
Second, it worked amazingly well! My hair felt incredibly soft and pliable. Soft to the point that I couldn't even do anything with it. It just wouldn't hold well since it was so nice. This is easily an oil treatment that I would get again.
Third, the bottle is small, but depending on how much you use and how long your hair is, you can get a few applications out of it. With shoulder length hair and using enough to soak through but not drip everywhere, I got 2.5 uses out of it (half because it didn't really soak through well on the last application since I didn't have enough).
Only drawback, this *is* messy. It's oil, it's hard to clean up and get off your hands. Make sure you do it in the bathroom, have adequate coverage for your clothes and pillow (if you sleep with it in) and wipe it up. It's not a thick oil, it pours quite well, and it's easy to get everywhere if you're not careful!

I have hypoactive thyroid, which means my hair thins. About 2 years ago, I was talking to my doctor about what seemed to be a drastic hair loss. My medication did need to be adjusted, but she also suggested I try a new shampoo/conditioner to help with hair loss, and she wrote down "Nioxin." I was desperate, so I decided to give the product a try.
To be frank, I'm not bowled over by the scent. It has a somewhat medicinal smell, which can take some time to get used to. There is also a bit of a tingle when using the Scalp Therapy that might be a little unnerving at first.
However! I noticed within the first month of use (and I wash my hair 2 - 3 times a week), I had less hair in the shower comb, and less hair showing up on the bathroom counter. Also, since becoming hypoactive, I've become a "shedder" - with hair literally falling out as I stand talking to people. This had started to decrease.
After 2 years of use, the amount of hair in the shower comb is dramatically reduced, as well as the hair on the bathroom counter. I now rarely "shed," and if I do, it's like one or two hairs. My hair is staying on my head!!
When I was a young child, I had really, really thick hair, and prior to using Nioxin, that was becoming a memory. Now, my hair looks really thick and full, and it even feels thick and full. I do straighten my hair, which can cause extra stress, but my hair is still soft, shiny, and healthy. And I've noticed new hair growth! I'm just thrilled with the results I've seen so far. And I now get compliments on my hair - something that has not happened in quite some time!
It does take time and patience, but this product can work and work well. Now, if they can only do something about that scent...

I have super dry frizzy curls, and have spent tons of money trying expensive conditioners to fight frizz and damage. I am amazed at this product, it works *extremely* well, and is so inexpensive. Really defrizzes and smooths. Smells good in the shower but does not leave an overly strong smell in hair. I love this conditioner, and hope VO5 never stops making it.
